Multitasking

We grow up thinking that we can do more than one task at a time. When it comes to multitasking the young generation has it down or so we think. There has been many studies showing that our brain has delays when it comes to doing more than one task at a time. During the day we have so much to do that doing it all at once seems easy. Adult multitask as much if not more, than young adults. Our brain can handle so much. We tend to try to stuff as much information in our brain, making it hard for us to think about one task. Between the ages of 13 and 18 we tend to use six different kinds of media. Thinking we can do so much at one time can cause problems. We do not realize that the brain cannot be in two places at once. Our brain had to make room for everything we need in our lives. When we make more than one choice our brain has to slow down and process both to be able to multitask. When you take time to do each task one at a time it takes less time than it would if you were to do more than one at a time. When you are in class and you get a text message your brain is thinking about the assignment but you are still able to respond to that text. Yes people say they can multitask, but that is not always a good thing. We tend to waste a lot of time when we cannot focus on just one task. I am not the best at multitasking, but when it comes to small things I seem to handle it ok. When I am in class and I have a paper to write I can listen to music at the same time and not get too distracted. I know so many people who text and drive and just watching them I could tell they cannot drive and text. When I would work with babies, I seem to be able to do many things all at once. I can feed one child and make sure the other one is not hurting himself. When it comes to something I do every day I can multitask very well
